A$AP Rocky needs to chill on the dissing
What’s poppin y’all,
A$AP Rocky is finally talking spicy again, and it all went down at Rolling Loud during his headlining performance. This marks his first major show since beating a case that had him facing over 20 years, a wild situation that seemed almost surreal. Since that legal battle wrapped up, Rocky had been keeping it low-key on disses.
But now? He’s back in the mix.
If you remember, last year, Rocky was featured on tracks from We Don’t Trust You, and many believed he was taking sides. He denied it back then, but now he’s throwing shots back and forth with Drake—a tension that, let’s be real, has a lot to do with Rihanna.
I’ve said it before: Rocky almost became a glorified stay-at-home husband, where Rihanna was moving as a mogul while his career seemed to take a backseat. But now, he’s previewing new music, and in one of his performances, he dropped this line:
“I ain’t on J. Cole, I ain’t on Drake, I ain’t on Kendrick’s side, I choose homicide, they gon’ see a different side.”
Now, this could mean a couple of things:
He could be talking literally—violence, beef, aggression.
Homicide could also reference Homicide Gang, which is signed to Playboi Carti. And let’s not forget, Carti is signed to AWGE, Rocky’s label and creative collective.
Whatever the case, Rocky’s finally stepping back into his own lane.
I’m excited for the new album, but reactions online have been mixed. Some fans on Twitter are saying:
“We’re not trying to hear this from Rocky, he’s been sitting back for years now.”
And I get it. Rocky has always been an artist first—visuals, aesthetics, fashion—but this moment is crucial. If he’s going to go at Drake, he has to do it the right way.
The Best (and Worst) Time to Diss Drake?
One of Rocky’s standout lines:
“First you stole my flow, so I stole your bitch.”
Drake’s borrowed flows from plenty of artists, so Rocky might feel justified. But does he really want to keep pushing this? Because if we’re being honest, Rocky isn’t built for a rap beef. Drake is already wounded from the Kendrick situation, so if there’s a time to strike, it’s now.
But if Drake was at full strength? Rocky wouldn’t stand a chance.
He’s great at making music, but a full-on lyrical war? Not his lane.
Still, I like this energy from him. If he keeps it music-focused and doesn’t try to be “rap beef” Rocky, we might finally get the album we’ve been waiting for.
